Pieces of mine that do really well in corporate/ commercial/ high end residential settings are the prisms and the landscapes. I’ve recently been foraying into these oversized portraits, which make such an incredible statement.

I love large scale pieces that are teeming with bold color. Life is short. There are too many blank walls. My goal is to fill them with some bold color!

Bio: Hillary is a semi-abstract painter in Memphis, TN. She is honored to have work on ABC’s hit show, Nashville, and has had the opportunity to show at Agora Gallery in New York. Several hit blogs have featured some HB work. Among these are Better Homes and Gardens, Domino, & Design Love Fest.

I’ve had the privilege of having my abstract artwork in so many different places, in countless private homes, luxury new home builds, corporate projects, galleries, healthcare facilities (one of these was on a set of ABC’s hit show, Nashville!), and other hospitality venues. I adore working with designers and art consultants not only in the mid south but nationally. These wonderful friends have gotten me into some incredible projects that I wouldn’t have known about otherwise! What a gift it is to look back and think about where all these beauties have flown and how many amazing partnerships are ahead in the years to come!

Here are a few favorite babies in their settings- some sold and some still available in my shop. I love seeing work in a setting- it really helps give context for the beauty and scale of a piece when you can see it off a square in a screen and onto a wall!

Local Memphis Abstract Artist Hilary Butler: Sending Abstract Linear Landscapes for Hillary Whitaker Gallery

This local Memphis, TN abstract artist gal has been frantically painting lots of abstract landscapes to send to one of my favorite galleries, Hillary Whitaker Gallery in Ponta Vedra, FL. They’ve been so kind to move so many of these over the past few years! Here’s the new body of work that is headed their way! These are all 36” x 36” super bright and colorful landscapes with lots of crisp lines and, one can’t forget, the signature drips on each piece. I love how the drips add so much depth to each work- they are literally coloring themselves outside the lines. My inner 4 year old rejoices!

Breaking Interior Designer Rules Memphis, TN

If you’re anything like me, you’re looking to make a statement when people walk through your front door. Your entryway is the first impression your guests experience. Why not make it one to set the tone for the rest of the experience they have in your home? I love breaking design rules. Love, love, love it. My one rule is, if you love it, do it. It’s your home! The expert who tells you yes or no doesn’t live in the space you do or have the exact same taste as you. If you want to hang a large painting and place an open entry table front of it, do it! I love how this huge abstract statement paining is large enough for a huge art statement, but the table and accessories pull i all together to cozy it up in a very statement worthy way. Decorate away, friends! Keep breaking those interior design rules!
